Kathleen Cromp, RN, MPH
Systems and Organizational Improvement

Kathleen provides expertise in organizational improvement and change, working with leaders, clinical care providers and staff, and policy-makers. Her focus is organizational learning and systems that lead to improved performance and policy and regulatory compliance.

Most recently, Kathleen was Director for Quality Integration at Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound in Seattle, where she led development of the organization's quality system and improvement strategy. She successfully designed and introduced a model for system-wide clinical improvement. During her tenure at Group Health, Kathleen also directed its family practice residency program and its drug and alcohol treatment unit.

Kathleen has been on the teaching faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) since 1990, having taught quality improvement concepts and methods in a variety of settings locally and nationally. She currently directs IHI's Rapid Cycle Improvement course. Her 20+ year health care experience spans preventive care, clinical operations, program development and implementation, policy and regulatory requirements, and nursing practice.

Kathleen’s previous positions have included nursing and management positions at Children's Orthopedic Hospital and the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kathleen holds both an RN degree and master’s of public health from the University of Michigan.
