Kevin M. Thompson
Director of New Market Applications

Kevin began his 26-year career in sales and business development at age 16 when he became the youngest person hired for a sales position with a prestigious Florida department store. A Tampa native, Kevin is very much a conceptualized thinker, using innovative ideas to bring projects to fruition. His skills include business planning, marketing, negotiations, crisis management, and operations start-up.

Much of Kevin’s education comes from his real-world experiences in various business and volunteer ventures. For nine years, Kevin served as president of Realtycorp, a family-owned commercial real estate brokerage, construction, and property management firm, overseeing offices in Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota, and St. Petersburg, Florida.

In 1988, Kevin became the principle founder and president of the MacTavish Group, a real estate acquisition company. Kevin was in the process of assembling a significant portfolio for MacTavish when he was diagnosed with advanced non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Kevin spent the next two years undergoing treatment and recovery. Through his experiences with the disease, he saw the need to bring to the forefront the unique issues faced by cancer survivors and their caregivers. Working as a volunteer, Kevin co-founded the Florida Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and assisted in developing three statewide conferences on survivorship issues. Kevin also served on the board of directors and the nominating committee for the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.

To support his volunteer activities, Kevin became a partner in Thompson Land Group, Inc., a commercial real estate and property management firm that specializes in historical redevelopment.

In 1997, the American Cancer Society (ACS) asked Kevin to become a consultant to their National Home Office on survivorship initiatives. Kevin founded GroupBenefica, Inc., helping to create, develop, cultivate, and evaluate ACS survivor and caregiver programs, including the Cancer Survivors Network.
Kevin currently serves on the advisory board for InTouch Magazine and is a consultant to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
