| | | | | Mark A. Garcia Network and Systems Manager Mark is working with The NewSof Group to maintain, build, and grow our systems infrastructure. Currently, he is responsible for ensuring that our services and applications are always available to our clients and their audiences. He handles our network architecture, firewall security, Web services, backup policies, and mail servers. Mark has expertise is in system analysis/integration and high-availability architectures. He has specialized experience in mail infrastructure and Web server clustering, with additional practice in database replication. He also has a background in programming with Perl, PHP, and Python, which greatly simplifies his workload of system administration. Mark has worked extensively on Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Solaris operating systems. Mark came to The Newsof Group from InfoSpace, Inc., which offers services to 80 percent of the wireless market, as well as authorized payment gateways and e-commerce services for small businesses. Mark was the lead systems engineer for InfoSpaces production operations group, where he supervised the overall service availability of over 700 servers in a heterogeneous and geographically separated production environment. Problem-solving with development managers and software engineers, Mark was able to move the companys service availability from 97.5 percent to a stable 99.95 percent within eight months. Prior to working at InfoSpace, Mark was a senior support engineer for Go2Net's Production Operations Group, where he maintained, monitored, and ensured service availability for Go2Net's broadband, search, Web hosting, financial, and portal applications and services. He was responsible for more than 300 servers and for monitoring production rollouts and quality assurance. Go2Net was among the top 10 in media metrics for unique Web visitors. This translates to 24 million unique visitors per month. | |
